• This is a non-violent rally. The march portion of this event was cancelled due to budget constraints and scheduling conflicts at City Hall.

What should I wear?

• Nonslip closed toed shoes for safety 
• YELLOW is the color for the event to represent migrant and refugee issues, so wear yellow
• It will be warm, so please dress accordingly to ensure your comfort
• You can also purchase a shirt from the National website to help fund these events nation wide

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

• No ID is required
• ​This event is open to all ages  
• IMPORTANT NOTE FOR PARENTS:  Due to the fact that this is a human rights oriented event, parents should be aware that there will potentially be discussion of various human rights violations including stories about children being separated from parents, racial discrimination, violence against migrants and refugees, and other potentially upsetting topics.   Please exercise your best parental judgement about your children's maturity, age, and sensitivity in your decision whether or not to bring your them, but be assured that they are welcome as long as they are supervised by an adult!

What can I bring into the event?

• We highly encourage rallygoers to bring a reuseable water bottle to fill at the many water fountains inside the Capital building.
• We suggest that you bring your own chair or a blanket to sit on so you can relax while you listen to the program.
• There is lots of shade along the Great Walk and around the Carriage Stop of the South Steps where our stage will be, but you're welcome to bring an umbrella.  Bring sunscreen if you think you may need it though.  
• Please remember to bring insect repellent if you need it.  Since the event will be around dusk, mosquitoes may be active.
• Signs and banners are encouraged, however State Preservation Board and TX DPS safety rules prohibit any handles or sticks. No signs can be affixed to capital property including railings, benches, or trees so be prepared to hold your sign or lay it on the ground.
• Please remember that in order to go inside the capital and use the restroom, you will have to pass through TX DPS airport style security and your bags\purses will be x-rayed so budget a little extra time in case there's a line.  You will also have to pass through a metal detector search.   So, don't bring anything prohibited like drugs, alcohol, or weapons (all 3 are strictly prohibited at this event).

Are dogs allowed?

• Service Animals, Emotional Support Dogs, and calm crowd friendly Pet dogs are allowed on the Capitol Grounds and welcome at the event, as long as you are prepared to clean up any poop.
• Remember that only Service Animals are allowed inside the Capitol, and that the restrooms are inside.  If you do not have an ADA Service Animal you will need to make arrangements for someone to be able to stay with the animal while you pass through security and go inside to use the restroom.  
• Please take into consideration the temperament, training level, and ability of your dog to handle crowds and loud noises.  We will have amplified sound with speeches and music, and there may be a large loud crowd.   Please remember that dogs have much more sensitive ears and some dogs may be more easily overwhelmed.  If you are uncertain, I would suggest leaving your pet at home for his own comfort and safety, but it is each pet owner's responsibility to know and judge the ability of their pet to handle this event!
